Human health and nutrition

A growing number of consumers are looking for proactive health solutions to avoid pharmaceutical interventions with negative effects on an increasing number of chronic diseases such as hypertension and diabetes. Lignin, as the second largest source of carbon next to cellulose, will play a major role in the transition to a climate-friendly circular economy and, thanks to its molecular structure and multifunctionality, will also have a major influence in the food and health sector.

The context of our activities

The fragile infrastructure of an increasingly interconnected global world is illustrated by certain key challenges like climate change, or food and feed security among others.

Use of renewable feedstocks to produce energy, chemicals, and materials is one cornerstone in addressing these challenges. Our focus and demonstrated capabilities on efficient production of aromatic chemicals from renewable feedstocks has positioned Tanovis to play a central role in the sustainable supply of a group of chemicals that accounts for five out of the twelve most important petrochemicals in today’s industry. Our technologies are compatible with biorefinery processes from biomass, improving the economics of such processes.
